Beneficiaries

During its 40 years of existence the Liberty Sertoma Club has contributed more than $1,500,000 and many thousands of volunteer hours supporting community service.  If your Liberty area organization is interested in a contribution from the Liberty Sertoma Club, please contact our Sponsorship Chairman, Tim Barron.  Below is a list of our beneficiaries for 2009.

Boys and Girls State

American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State are the premier programs for teaching how government works while developing leadership skills & an appreciation for rights as a citizen. Participants in the program run for office, learn public speaking, create and enforce laws and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government in this exciting and fun summer program.

 

Clay County Public Health Center

The Clay County Public Health Center is a public institution designed as an organized community effort to prevent illness, prolong life, and improve and protect the health of all people in the county.  The center works to achieve and maintain good health through a variety of services.

 

Energy of Hope

Energy of Hope is an organization made up of caring individuals who have been exposed to the obstacles that orphans and vulnerable children face in Africa. They feel a strong sense of responsibility for each child that remains on the streets in Africa and it is their goal to provide them with the care and the education that they need to grow into peaceful and productive members of global society.

 

Hillcrest Transitional Housing

Hillcrest Transitional Housing is a program that provides a Christian environment that helps homeless families become self-supportive, self reliant contributors to society. Transitional Housing's primary program focus is moving families from homelessness to self-sufficiency within 90 days. In exchange for rent/utility-free housing, residents are required by written agreement to work full time, obey the program guidelines, and attend volunteer taught classes in life skills, employment, community living, and budgeting.

 

Immacolata Manor

The Manor is a not-for-profit agency providing habilitative services for persons with a developmental disability. Immacolata Manor focuses on the values and principles of community membership, self determination, human rights, and basic needs, so that the persons will be supported and empowered to achieve their highest potential and to live their lives with dignity and respect.

 

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. LLS's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

 

Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce

The Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce is the area’s leading non-profit, membership-driven business organization dedicated to creating a climate in which businesses can succeed. They are constantly working to improve the economic well-being and quality of life in the Liberty area. In representing over 400 member businesses, the Chamber has earned the reputation as an organization that has a positive and significant impact in the community and the surrounding area.

 

Liberty Community Christmas Tree

The Liberty Christmas Tree Program is designed to lend a hand to disadvantaged families and seniors who are facing a difficult holiday season.

 

Liberty Hospital Foundation

Guided by the Hospital's strategic plan, their mission is to provide financial support to the Liberty Hospital by funding programs that will have a positive impact on the patients and employees of the Liberty Hospital, and therefore the community, and the region.

 

Liberty Public Schools

Liberty Public School District serves the residents of approximately 85 square miles in Clay County. The school district, located just northeast of Kansas City, serves more than 10,700 students in grades preschool to 12.  Their mission is to educate and encourage all learners so they will acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes to be responsible, contributing and fulfilled members of society.

 

Liberty Serteens

Serteens is a student-run club at Liberty High School that is dedicated to community service in the school and the community. A variety of service projects are completed each semester, depending on the interests of the club members.

 

Liberty Women's Clinic

Liberty Women's Clinic provides abortion clinic alternative services in Liberty, Missouri. Offering pregnancy help services to Kansas City, Gladstone and North Kansas City, MO. Pregnancy testing & confidential services for those in Independence, Kearney & Excelsior Springs, Missouri as well as in Holt and Richmond.
 

Rebuilding Together Clay County (formerly Rebuilding Together Liberty)

Rebuilding Together Clay County, is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners living in warmth, safety, and independence.  Rebuilding Together Clay County is an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, the nation's largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing low-income houses and communities.
 

Triality

Triality’s mission is to embrace and empower people with disabilities to lead fulfilled lives in a welcoming and unbiased society.  Triality was established more than 30 years ago in response to the needs of parents of adult children with complex developmental disabilities. The intent was to connect families with their communities in order to establish a network to support the whole person so that people with disabilities may lead satisfying, meaningful and self-directed lives.
